Our NYC debut was special for so many reasons. Seeing all of the exhibitors at the June 2013 FFaNY (Fashion Footwear Association of New York) Shoe Show at the Hilton brought me back to my childhood. My memories immediately resurfaced of being a young girl, tagging along with my Dad. I loved walking into all of the rooms, feeling privileged to witness the upcoming styles before anyone else. Here I was, exhibiting at the very same shoe show that I visited as a guest for so many years! The tables were turned. This is a particularly personal journey, coming full circle, as my name is literally on these shoes! I cannot hide behind my Dad's coattails.
As I was setting up our display of samples, I realized I never appreciated just how much work was involved with the creation of a new line. The feeling was similar to bringing any of my babies out in public for the first time. I awaited approval from strangers, but in my heart I was already so proud of them. I knew they were special, and any outside approval would be the icing on the cake.
I am happy to report that the response was overwhelmingly positive. Several people tried on samples, and huge smiles immediately donned their faces!
When retailers asked to take a picture with me, I felt like a rock star. It is not me that is the rock star, though- it is my shoes. They represent the true core of what every woman deserves to have: beautiful style that allows you to feel great as you dance the night away!
I owe a special thank you to the special folks at FFaNY, my team, friends, and family. You have all contributed to this special memory that will forever be embedded in my heart.
